Habeeb G. Habeeb Announces Candidacy for Champaign County Republican Party Chairman
Local business and civic leader seeks position to expand and strengthen party in preparation of the 2012 elections
Champaign, Illinois—July 5, 2011—Champaign County business leader Habeeb G. Habeeb has announced his intentions to seek election to the position of Champaign County Republicans Central Committee Chairman.
“The upcoming 2012 elections are a crossroads for our communities and the Republican Party. The newly redrawn county, state, and national electoral maps, require most representative seats to appear on the 2012 ballot. As a result the Champaign County Republican Party must be stronger than ever”, said Habeeb. “Together we will build a party that stands ready to recruit, develop, and campaign for candidates who are not only principled, but electable. Together we will develop a professional organization that provides a strong foundation for our party to grow and win elections. Together we will reach out to the greater community to spread the word about our candidates and to turn voter frustration into positive action through involvement opportunities.”
The seat of county chairman is determined by a weighted vote of the elected Champaign County Republican Central Committeemen at the organization’s bi-annual convention following the March 2012 primaries. Habeeb has reached out and earned the support of many precinct committeemen and local Republican elected officials, including the support of State Representative Jason Barickman (IL-105), the current chairman of the Champaign County Republican Central Committee. “The energy, enthusiasm and optimism Habeeb brings to our party is unprecedented”, said Barickman. “He’s an extremely successful businessman, and more importantly, a terrific husband and father. The story of his life is a real example of the American dream. For all these reasons, I believe he’ll make an excellent County Chairman, and I am certain that his hard-working, ethical approach to life will serve us all well.”
Karen Foster, the vice-chairman of the Central Committee said, “Habeeb’s enthusiasm and passion toward keeping our cities, state and country moving forward is contagious. He wants to find the best people to represent our party for candidates. His love for our country cannot be outdone as exemplified through the article that is now in national papers.”
Additionally, Habeeb is earning the support of Republican leaders from all corners of Champaign County. State Representative Chapin Rose of Mahomet said, “Habeeb is one of the most gregarious, exciting personalities I’ve ever met! In recent years he has taken a very active role in recruiting new faces into the party. With his enthusiasm, who wouldn’t want to join?” Jim Rusk, precinct committeemen for Rantoul 4 said, “It’s time for leadership and Habeeb is the guy”. And to the East in Saint Joseph, Mayor B.J. Hackler said, “Habeeb has the professional experience to do a good job for us.”
Champaign County Board Member and Republican Caucus Leader Alan Nudo said, “Habeeb is a “doer! He will call you, e-mail you, run by to see you, drive with you somewhere…you get the point. Habeeb is the perfect candidate for county chairman at this time to gear all of us up for the 2012 election, just as Jason has done in previous cycles. I wholeheartedly endorse Habeeb.”
Habeeb is also earning support from candidates entering the 2012 elections such as John Bamenek, a candidate for the Illinois 53rd Senate District. Bambenek said, “Habeeb has the energy and drive to lead our party going into the crucial 2012 elections and is an example of the vibrancy of our party and the broad appeal of our Republican values.
Habeeb Habeeb is president and chief executive officer of Benefit Planning Consultants in Champaign. A native of Lebanon, he has been an Illinois resident for 37 years. Over the years, Habeeb has volunteered in several capacities with various organizations and Boards of Directors including the Chamber of Commerce Board, as Vice President and Treasurer of the Judah Christian School Board, and Champaign Rotary. Habeeb has long been very active in church leadership and is currently the Vice Chair of the Elder Board of Directors at First Christian Church in Champaign. His passion for politics led him to get involved in many local, state, and national campaigns. He currently serves as treasurer of the Champaign County Republican Central Committee.
